Ph.D. candidate Babalola Olusola Emmanuel (Nigerian) in Civil Engineering successfully defended a doctoral dissertation at the University-level
On August 05, 2023, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held an examining committee for the doctoral dissertation at the University-level for Ph.D. candidate Babalola Olusola Emmanuel, (Ph.D. candidate code: 196204003) in Civil Engineering (Program code: 9580201), with the topic “Fire resistance performance of recycled concrete” under the supervision of Dr. Tran Minh Tung (TDTU) and Dr. Le Duc Hien (TDTU). During the dissertation defense, the council members were highly appreciated the contribution of the topic to the knowledge of concrete containing recycled aggregates. This is a sustainable alternative solution to natural aggregates in the construction industry, generating relevant data on the mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) when exposed to high temperatures. It establishes optimal mix design levels that can be adjusted to produce RAC with improved fire resistance performance and proposes accurate predictive numerical models to determine the remaining mechanical characteristics of RAC when exposed to high temperatures. All of this will significantly support the efficient fire safety design of structural components made from recycled aggregate concrete.
