The youth take action to mitigate the effects of climate change

On December 26, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) in cooperation with ActionAid Vietnam (AAV), and Aid for social protection program Foundation Vietnam (AFV) held a seminar on "Responsibilities of the youth to reduce the impacts of climate change".

The speakers at the seminar included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Senior Lecturer of Can Tho University; Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung, Lecturer of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao, Chief Representative of ActionAid Vietnam; and Mr. Le Vinh Truong, student leader.

The speakers discussed the impacts of climate change on the environment and socio-economic status of the Mekong Delta, as well as the role of young people in taking action to deal with climate change. Students participating in the seminar raised many questions as well as suggested initiatives to experts on the role of youth, specific actions to minimize the negative impact of this global problem.

At the event, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates to excellent individuals and groups of the program "Walk for the Future" to thank the participants who actively supported the program.

“Walk for the Future” is a part of the global program “WalkForSurvival” initiated by ActionAid International and is accompanied by young people and women from more than 40 countries and territories. The goal of the global program is to have more than 10,000 people walk the entire distance of 40,000 km (equal to a journey around the earth) by December 31, 2020. This goal has been achieved ahead of time.
