Doctoral Scholarships
- Eligibility
Doctoral candidates who enrolled in the University’s doctoral programs or joint doctoral programs between TDTU and its partner institutions from 2025 onward shall submit their applications for the Doctoral Scholarship within one (01) year from the issuance date of the Decision on recognition of doctoral candidates, assignment of supervisors, and approval of dissertation topics.

In addition, doctoral candidates with outstanding research achievements and research capabilities may be invited to participate in collaborative research activities with research groups of the respective Faculty/Institute and the University.
Notes:
- Scientific publications must comply with TDTU’s current regulations. Doctoral candidates may include one (01) additional institutional affiliation corresponding to their employing institution. TDTU must be listed as the primary affiliation.
- Scientific publications used for Doctoral Scholarship consideration may also be used for doctoral dissertation defense eligibility assessment.
- Living Allowance Support for Doctoral Candidates
- Eligibility: Doctoral candidates applying for the Doctoral Scholarship may apply for living allowance support on an annual basis throughout the standard duration of the doctoral program.
- Support Level: VND 8,000,000/doctoral candidate/month (additional support may be provided subject to approval by the President of the University).
- Conditions
+ A letter of endorsement from the supervisor is required;
+ Doctoral candidates receiving living allowance support are required to participate in academic, research, professional support, and scientific activities at the Faculty/Institute in accordance with the training plan, research proposal, and agreement with the supervisor, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Doctoral candidates must register for and commit to undertaking at least 02 of the following activities:

- Scholarship Award Principles
- The Scholarship Committee shall consider and award scholarships in descending order of priority until the allocated scholarship quota is fully awarded. The priority criteria include: (1) scientific research achievements; (2) full-time faculty members and staff of the University; and (3) alumni of the University.
- Doctoral Scholarships and living allowance support shall be disbursed at the end of each semester during the standard duration of the doctoral program.
- Scientific publications shall be published or available as “first online” full papers in journals during the term of the Doctoral Scholarship Agreement and must not have been used for any other evaluation or approval purposes at TDTU.
- The University shall review academic performance at the end of each academic year to determine the continuation of Doctoral Scholarships and living allowance support for subsequent academic years. Doctoral candidates must meet the following retention criteria:
+ Strict adherence to the approved study and research plan for the entire program
+ Fulfillment of the commitments related to the previously registered living allowance support;
+ No academic warnings;
+ Not currently undergoing disciplinary action at the warning level or higher at TDTU, or facing criminal prosecution

- Copy of personal identification documents (passport or national ID card), or a consularly legalized passport (for international doctoral candidates).
- Copies of bachelor’s and master’s degree certificates (for Vietnamese doctoral candidates), or consularly legalized translated copies of bachelor’s and master’s degree certificates (for international doctoral candidates).
- Copy of the Degree Recognition Certificate issued by the Quality Management Department under the Ministry of Education and Training (applicable to degrees awarded by foreign educational institutions or joint programs between Vietnamese and foreign institutions)
- Curriculum Vitae (certified by the local authority at the place of residence or the employing institution for Vietnamese doctoral candidates).
- Academic Curriculum Vitae.
- Doctoral Dissertation Research Proposal (signed by the doctoral candidate and the supervisor; the proposal must clearly specify the implementation plan and publication timeline).
- Two (02) letters of recommendation from experts (including at least one (01) letter from a referee other than the supervisor).
- Supervisor’s Assessment Report.
- Copy of the Admission Letter (for doctoral candidates enrolled in joint doctoral programs between TDTU and partner institutions).
- Employment Verification Letter issued by TDTU specifying the employment history and years of service (for doctoral candidates who are lecturers or researchers of TDTU).
- Criminal Record Certificate (for international applicants).
