Postdoc Fellowship

 

1. Eligibility and criteria

Candidates for the Ton Duc Thang University Postdoc Fellowship (TDTU-PdS) must meet all of the following conditions:

- Hold a doctoral degree in a discipline or specialization relevant to TDTU's training and research fields.

- Be no more than 45 years of age.

- Be the first author and/or corresponding author of at least four (04) scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) for the Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) fields; or have at least two (02) WoS-indexed publications or four (04) Scopus-indexed publications for the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) fields, including Economics, Finance, Management, and related disciplines.

- Have a research and working plan aligned with the research fields and training orientation of the managing Faculty/Institute.

- Obtain approval from a TDTU academic supervisor.

- Register for full-time employment at TDTU and submit a complete application dossier as specified in Section 4.

2. Fellowship Amount

The Postdoctoral Fellowship consists of two components: (1) Research-based fellowship and (2) Living allowance.

The research-based fellowship is calculated in accordance with TDTU’s regulations on researcher income (hereinafter referred to as HB), as detailed below:

Postdoctoral researchers (Postdocs) must work full-time and perform assigned duties under the supervision of the managing Faculty/Institute.

The research-based fellowship shall be disbursed only after the scientific publication has been officially accepted and the postdocs has fulfilled all other obligations stipulated in the Postdoctoral Fellowship Agreement.

3. Obligations of Postdocs receiving the Fellowship

Postdocs awarded the fellowship must fulfill the following obligations:

- Register for a commitment period of at least twelve (12) months;

- Register primary obligations by specifying concrete scientific research outputs and providing a detailed implementation plan.

Scientific research outputs are publications indexed in WoS/Scopus, ranked in accordance with TDTU regulations:

  • For Natural Sciences and Engineering: Minimum of one (01) WoS publication ranked 8; Maximum of two (02) WoS publications as first author and/or corresponding author.
  • For Social Sciences and Humanities field, including Economics, Finance, Management...: Minimum of one (01) WoS publication ranked 10; Maximum of two (02) WoS/Scopus publications as first author and/or corresponding author.

Publications must be officially published or available as first online versions, must not have been used for any other evaluation or acceptance purposes at TDTU, and must be completed within the duration of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Agreement.

  • Register for additional scientific research activities.

 Note: Substituted activities must be equivalent in workload. TDTU does not provide separate remuneration for these activities, as they are covered by the Postdoctoral Fellowship.

4. Application Dossier for the Postdoctoral Fellowship

4.1. Application form for the Postdoctoral Fellowship;
4.2. Copy of passport with consular legalization;
4.3. Certified translation of doctoral degree certificates with consular legalization;
4.4. Academic curriculum vitae (scientific biography);
4.5. Research outputs indexed in WoS/Scopus;
4.6 Research plan specifying the number and ranking of scientific outputs, additional research activities, implementation timeline, and research location;
4.7. Letter of approval from the postdoctoral supervisor, including a guarantee covering at least 30% of the living allowance granted to the postdoctoral researcher (TDTU lecturers may use the Vietnamese version to recommend foreign applicants);
4.8. Letters of recommendation from two (02) experts (see guidelines);
4.9. Health check certificate and Criminal record.

Note: For second and subsequent fellowship applications, postdoc are required to submit documents listed in Items 4.1, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, and 4.8, together with a report on the fulfillment of Postdoctoral Fellowship obligations for the most recent period.

5. Responsibilities and Obligations of Postdoc

5.1. Obligations

   a) Comply with all regulations and terms stipulated in the TDTU-PdS Agreement;
   b) Adhere to institutional affiliation and email usage requirements in all scientific publications;
   c) Submit quarterly (every three months) research progress reports and a comprehensive final report to the managing unit upon or prior to the publication deadline stipulated in the Fellowship Agreement. Reports must follow TDTU templates, include detailed and quantitative assessments of progress and outcomes, and be endorsed by the supervisor and managing unit.
In cases where publications are completed ahead of schedule, the postdoctoral researcher shall submit the comprehensive report to facilitate acceptance procedures.
   d) During the fellowship period, Postdoc shall be under the academic supervision of the appointed supervisor and the administrative management of the Faculty/Institute.

5.2. Responsibilities in Case of Non-fulfillment

   a) Postdoctoral researchers who fail to fulfill obligations within the stipulated timeframe may submit an extension request with supporting evidence (if any) to the managing unit (maximum of two extensions, each not exceeding six months);

   b) In cases of non-performance or partial performance, postdoctoral researchers are required to reimburse the received fellowship to TDTU in proportion to the level of fulfillment, as specified in the Fellowship Agreement;

   c) In the event of article retraction, postdoctoral researchers must reimburse 100% of the fellowship funding related to the retracted publication and compensate for any damages incurred by TDTU. This obligation remains effective even after the Fellowship Agreement has expired.
