Two Ph.D. Candidates Successfully Defended Their University-Level Doctoral Dissertations in Accounting

On December 30, 2024, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) hosted the evaluation of the university-level doctoral dissertation for two Ph.D. candidates in Accounting (Major code: 9340301), with the details as follows:

  1. Tran Thi Kim Phuong (Candidate ID: 196203002) successfully defended the University-level doctoral dissertation with the topic: “Organizational structure, strategic management accounting practices, and performance: Evidence from telecommunication enterprises in Vietnam” under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irene Wei Kiong Ting (TDTU) and Dr. Nguyen Duy Suu (TDTU).

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Phuong enrolled in 2020, and has completed the workload as follows:

  • Completion of doctoral modules: 25 credits
  • Research proposal: 04 credits (8.0/10.0)
  • Research topic 1: 03 credits (8.3/10.0)

  1. Nguyen Huu Thien (Candidate ID: 196203003) successfully defended the University-level doctoral dissertation with the topic: “The interrelationships among accounting information system performance, organizational culture, and firm’s competitive advantage in Vietnamese small and medium enterprises” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Qian Long Kweh (TDTU) and Dr. Nguyen Duy Suu (TDTU).

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thien enrolled in 2020, and has completed the workload as follows:

  • Completion of doctoral modules: 25 credits
  • Research proposal: 04 credits (8.0/10.0)
  • Research topic 1: 03 credits (7.3/10.0)
  • Research topic 2: 03 credits (7.3/10.0)
  • 01 article published in an WoS -indexed journal
  • The defense of doctoral thesis at the department level
  • The independent dissertation examination

The doctoral theses of 02 Ph.D. candidates were approved by the members of the University-Level Doctoral Dissertation Examining Committee with a total of 07/07 votes.
Speaking after defending the thesis, 02 Ph.D. candidates expressed their deep gratitude to their supervisors, the Presidential Board, the Faculty of Accounting, and the Department of Graduate Studies for supporting the students during their study and research at the University.
