Ton Duc Thang University successfully organizes the ASEAN Universiy Network-Quality assurance International conference (AUN-QA IC 2024)
The ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance International Conference 2024 (AUN-QA) 2024 officially closed on the afternoon of December 12, 2024 at Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh city. The event attracted the participation of more than 400 delegates from 153 universities, educational institutions and management agencies in the ASEAN region and international partners.
Attending the Closing Ceremony of the Conference were Dr. Som Ratana - Under Secretary of State of the Ministry Education Youth and Sport of Cambodia, AUN Executive Board and nearly 400 experts and managers from 153 universities, quality accreditation organizations, educational institutions in the ASEAN region and around the world.
From TDTU, there was the presence of Dr. Tran Trong Dao - Chairman of the Science and Training Council, President of the University, members of the University Council, Presidential Board, and a large number of lecturers and staff of the University.
With the theme “Innovating ASEAN Higher Education: Embracing AI Integration, Database Utilization and Future-Ready Quality Culture”, the conference this year focused on discussing new trends in education quality assurance, innovative teaching and learning methods, and how universities in the region can leverage digital technology to improve operational efficiency.
In his closing speech, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University, affirmed: “This year, the conference has created an important step forward, not only in improving the quality of ASEAN higher education, but also building a solid foundation for future regional cooperation. Hosting the AUN-QA 2024 conference is a valuable opportunity for Ton Duc Thang University to contribute to the overall development of ASEAN higher education. The conference’s outcomes will serve as a strong basis for long-term collaboration among universities in the region.”
Previously, authorized by the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director General of the Education Quality Management Agency, commented that the AUN-QA Conference 2024 was a very special event for the ASEAN higher education community and Ton Duc Thang University was greatly appreciated for being selected to host this event. A significant message about Vietnam’s openness and spirit of cooperation in the ASEAN community was conveyed by the conference’s meticulous planning, which also showed the hospitality and spirit of close collaboration among domestic universities and other ASEAN universities.
During the two days of the Conference, delegates actively participated in in-depth discussions on methods, techniques and practices to improve the quality of higher education. Through 7 discussion sessions, 31 excellent moderators and presenters from 29 leading universities in the world and the region presented and discussed 24 papers on important topics that are currently of interest to global education, such as Going 'all out': Knockout strategies for Higher education success; Good practices in Southeast & East Asia & Australia: Suggestions on integrating AI with database for quality assurance in Higher education; Leveraging AI for forward-thinking quality standards in ASEAN Higher Education; Strategies for future-proofing quality culture in ASEAN Higher education, etc. The information was shared, not only within the Southeast Asian university network but would also spread to other educational institutions around the world.
The AUN-QA IC at Ton Duc Thang University has concluded. This was one of the important events in the development strategy of the University, promoting international integration, aiming to train global citizens as well as realizing the goal of developing Ton Duc Thang University into a world-class research university.
This event not only strengthened the position of the University in the Southeast Asian university network but also affirmed the continuous efforts of Vietnam in particular and regional universities in general in building a quality and sustainable education system. The event marked a new step forward in the deep integration of Vietnamese education and training into the regional and international higher education quality assurance network, when the conference was held for the first time at Ton Duc Thang University after 6 conferences in 4 other countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. At the same time, it continued to affirm that Ton Duc Thang University has been a leading university in quality accreditation according to international standards.
