Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City extends social distancing curbs for 15 days from August 1st to August 15th 2021

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) citizens are not allowed to go out from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, and supermarkets and food stores will close before 5:00 pm. Time or social distancing will be extended from August 1st to August 15th, 2021. All activities in the area are temporarily suspended except in case of an emergency or at the request of coordination for disease prevention and control.

In the measure to strengthen anti-epidemic, to implement the enhanced Directive 16, some supermarkets in HCMC have announced that they will open until 5:00 pm, instead of 10:00 pm as before. People do not go out from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am the next morning. Thus, supermarkets and food stores will adjust their opening hours from 30 minutes to 1 hour earlier and simultaneously close before 5:00 pm. Currently, the People's Committee of HCMC, the Department of Industry and Trade of HCMC are still working with retail and distribution businesses in the area.

Along with the early closure, supermarkets also consider the option to increase mobile sales during the day, open to receive more online orders to meet the shopping needs of the people. Police forces, the army, and local authorities need to strengthen patrol and control 24/24. Regularly re-check the observance of social distancing in residential areas and streets. HCMC will strictly handle violations.
