Covid 19 Rapid test

7 steps to implement a rapid test at home

On the evening of August 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) released new information on how to quickly test Covid-19 at home. From August 23 to 25, the city will conduct community testing for all residents.

In particular, in Civil groups, people’s groups with high-risk (orange zones) and very high-risk (red zones), rapid testing of SARS-COV-2 virus antigen, also known as rapid test will self-executing by residents for each home. The process of residents self-testing at home will be supervised by healthcare staff.

There are 7 steps to implement a rapid test:

+ Step 1: Prepare the buffer tube according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

+ Step 2: Conduct self-sampling in front of a mirror or sample for other members of the household.

+ Step 3: Swirling the cotton swab in a plastic tube containing the buffer by hand, dip the cotton swab up and down in the buffer (10 times).

+ Step 4: Move your hands over the top of the tube, squeeze and slowly pull out the cotton swab. Make sure to squeeze the entire remaining solution on the tip of the cotton swab to the bottom of the tube.

+ Step 5: Close the filter lid tightly, shake the solution evenly in the tube by hand (5 times).

+ Step 6: Write each member’s name on the respective test trays. Add 3-5 drops of the above solution into the test well (according to the manufacturer’s instructions).

+ Step 7: Read the results in 15-30 minutes according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

After self-sampling, residents will read the results themselves according to the manufacturer’s results analysis instructions. Negative case (Only 1 C line): Conclude that the sample of the person being sampled is negative at the time of the test.

Positive case (both C and T line): Conclude that the sample of the person being sampled has a positive result by rapid antigen testing at the time of the test. Finally, residents will report the results and return the test tray to the healthcare staff for synthesis.
