TDTU POSTDOC FELLOWSHIPS

 

   

1. Purpose

a) Ton Duc Thang University Postdoc Fellowship (TDTU-PdS) is a fellowship funded by Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) for candidates holding a doctoral degree who meet the eligibility criteria for the TDTU-PdS (referred to as Postdoctoral Researchers or Postdocs);

b) TDTU-PdS aims to support and promote scientific research activities by providing finance for Postdocs to conduct their research and publish scientific articles in journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS)/Scopus databases.

2. Eligibility and criteria

Candidates for the TDTU-PdS must meet all of the following conditions:

a) Holding a doctorate in a field/discipline/major relevant to the research and training areas of the TDTU;

b) Be under the age of 45;

c) Being the first author and/or the corresponding author of at least 4 scientific publications in WoS for the Natural Sciences - Technology category (abbreviated: NS-T); or 02 scientific publications in WoS or 4 scientific publications in Scopus for Social Sciences, Economics, Finance, Management,...category (abbreviated: SS);

d) Having a research and work plan that aligns with the research area/ direction and educational mission of the management unit;

e) Approved by TDTU’s supervisor;

f) Submitted all documents listed in Term 6 as below.

3. Postdoctoral fellowship Amount

3.1. The TDTU-PdS includes two components: (1) Research-based remuneration and (2) Living allowance.

The research-based remuneration is calculated based on points a and b, Clause 1, Article 4 of Decision No. 2983/QĐ-TĐT dated October 4, 2023, issued by the President of TDTU on the promulgation of regulations on researcher income (abbreviated as HB). The formula is as follows:

Other cases will be decided by the President.

3.2. The research-based remuneration will only be paid after the scientific publication is accepted and the Postdocs have fulfilled all other obligations as per the TDTU-PdS Agreement.

3.3. TDTU-PdS will be disbursed via bank transfer to the account of the Postdocs.

3.4. Postdocs will be considered for accommodation support according to TDTU’s regulations (for foreign Postdoc or Vietnamese Postdoc having the demand to live within the campus under the management of TDTU) during the working period as a Postdoc.

3.5. Postdoc will be provided workspace and utilize the TDTU’s equipment for research activities.

4. Duties of postdoctoral researchers to be granted fellowship

Postdocs must ensure the performance of the following duties:

4.1. Registration of duties for at least 12 months;

4.2. Registration of main duties by registering specific scientific products and having detailed plans to fulfill the duties.

 Scientific research products are scientific publications on WoS/Scopus ranked according to TDTU regulations.

  • For NS-T: a minimum of 01 WoS publication, a maximum of 02 WoS publications with the first author and/or the corresponding author;
  • For SS: a minimum of 01 WoS publication, a maximum of 02 WoS/Scopus publications with the first author and/or the corresponding author.

Scientific publications must be published or have been fully online in a journal (first online), not used for any other acceptance purposes at TDTU and during the implementation of the TDTU-PdS Agreement;

4.3. Registration of other scientific research activities

Postdoc will carry out additional 02 (two) of the following activities (tated clearly in the research program with evidence):

Note:

Replaced activities must be replaced by equivalent activities;

TDTU shall not provide separate remuneration for these activities as they are already compensated within the remuneration for the TDTU-PdS.

4.4 No signs of violating academic integrity.

5. Supervisor standards and responsibilities

5.1. Standards:

a) Must be a lecturer or researcher at TDTU with a Ph.D. degree and expertise relevant to the Postdoc;

b) Being the first author and/or the corresponding author of at least:

  • For NS-T: 04 scientific publications in WoS according to the TDTU's regulations;

  • For SS: 02 scientific publications in WoS or 04 scientific publications in Scopus according to the TDTU's regulations.

5.2. Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the fulfillment of duties and provide feedback on Reports and Extension requests from Postdocs (if any);

  • Take responsibility and commit to the scientific publication results of Postdocs. Notify promptly in cases where an Postdoc may not or has not completed the registration obligations as per the TDTU-PdS Agreement to the management unit for solutions to avoid risks;

  • In the event that an Postdoc does not fulfill the registered obligations by the end of the agreement period, the supervisor will be responsible for reimbursing TDTU 30% of living allowance granted to the Postdoc (if any);

  • If the TDTU-PdS of an Postdoc is fully funded by the supervisor, the supervisor shall be fully responsible to the Postdoc for the payment of TDTU-PdS and the amount of scientific research work as agreed between the supervisor and the Postdoc. The supervisor has full rights to use the scientific publications of the Postdoc for personal research purposes.

6. Dossier of application for postdoctoral fellowship

6.1. Application form for postdoctoral fellowship;

6.2. A copy of a passport with a Consular legalization;

6.3. Certified translation of Ph.D. degree certificates with consular legalization;

6.4. Scientific biography;

6.5. Research performance indexed in WoS/Scopus database;

6.6. Research plan: specifying the exact number, ranking of scientific products, and other research activities; Implementation timeline and location;

6.7. Letter of approval from the Postdoc's supervisor with a guarantee at least 30% living allowance granted to the Postdoc;

6.8. Introduction letters from 2 experts (Refer to the Introduction letter content guidelines);

6.9. Health examination certificate and Judicial record.

Note: For applications for TDTU-PdS starting from the second registration onwards, Postdocs must submit documents in sections 6.1, 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.7 of item 6 along with a report on the most recent implementation results of TDTU-PdS obligations.

7. Responsibility and Duties of Postdoc

7.1 Duties of postdoctoral researcher

a) Complying with the regulations and terms outlined in the TDTU-PdS Agreement with TDTU.

b) The Postdoc must comply with specific address and email formatting in scientific publications as follows:

  • For Postdoc of the TDTU's Institutes/Centers/Departments:

       + Affiliation: 

       Laboratory of …/… Research Group (if the Postdoc is part of a Laboratory/Research Group), Institute of ……, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

        Faculty of……, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

  • If the Journal requires the address of TDTU, Postdoc must clearly and accurately write the following information: “…, Ton Duc Thang University, No. 19 Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Tan Phong Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.”

c) The Postdoc is required to submit regular research progress reports every 3 months and a comprehensive report of results achieved to the management unit upon or prior to the publication deadline of the PFA. Reports must follow TDTU's template, providing detailed and quantitative progress and research results, and must include the supervisor’s comments and verification from the management unit.

If the Postdoc completes the publication ahead of the TDTU-PdS Agreement end date, they must submit the comprehensive results report to the management unit to facilitate procedures for publication acceptance.

d) During the TDTU-PdS Agreement period, the Postdoc shall be under the management of the supervisor and management unit.

7.2 Responsibilities of the Postdoc in the Event of Incomplete Obligations

a) If the Postdoc fails to complete the TDTU-PdS Agreement by the stipulated deadline, they may submit an Extension Request with supporting documentation (if any) to the management unit (maximum of 2 extensions; each extension not exceeding 6 months).

b) Should the Postdoc fail to fulfill or inadequately fulfill their committed obligations, they will be required to reimburse TDTU for the fellowship received, proportional to the degree of obligation completion as specified in the TDTU-PdS Agreement.

c) In case of retraction of the Postdoc's publication by a journal, the Postdoc must fully refund 100% of the TDTU-PdS Agreement amount related to the withdraw article and compensate for any losses incurred by TDTU (applicable even after the TDTU-PdS Agreement expires)
